NSH and Northern Clinical School Research Winners

Royal North Shore Hospital and the Northern Clinical School of the University of Sydney, have together successfully secured more than $5.25 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to fund 15 individual research projects this year.

Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is a research-based hospital that aims to take good ideas, as we say, ‘from bench top to bedside. It is one of the leading medical and research hospitals in NSW and works closely with the University of Sydney, University of Technology, Sydney and other hospitals and universities, pharmaceutical companies and industry groups to improve the care of patients across NSW, throughout Australia and, in some cases, worldwide.
The Kolling Institute of Medical Research is the oldest medical research institute in New South Wales. Senior scientists and clinicians guide the work of over 100 PhD students on the RNSH campus

RNSH significantly out performed the national average (27.9%) with a 36% success rate.

Work is currently underway for the New Research & Education Building at RNS which will give medical research and clinical teaching a strong, recognisable identity by gathering together the groups that are currently scattered across the campus into an ultra-modern purpose-built facility. The building is due for completion in late 2008.
