Quilts bring comfort

The Northbridge Quilters have donated a striking handmade quilt to Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) to help cancer patients and their families.

Northbridge Quilters have been supporting cancer patients for a number of years, making attractive bags to hold post-surgery equipment.

Amanda O’Reilly from RNSH accepted the quilt on behalf of Cansupport, the hospital’s cancer support and information service. O’Reilly congratulated Northbridge Quilters for their ongoing support and thanked them for the hope and comfort they give to patients.

Having cancer can be a lonely and frightening experience for patients and family members. Cansupport provides telephone counselling, specific information programs and a volunteer service made up of cancer survivors who assist patients and their families to deal with the uncertainty and stress that a cancer diagnosis can bring.

Northbridge Quilters began more than twenty years ago. Their considerable talents will be on display at a quilt show in the Uniting Church Hall, Gunyah Street, Northbridge from Thursday 11 October to Saturday 13 October. The display will be open from 10 am to 4pm each day.

Admission - $5 with all proceeds to charity.
