Mucking Up for a Good Cause at RNSH
Year 12 students from Chatswood High spent their muck up day participating in the annual Wheelchair Push on Friday 28th September raising money for new wheelchairs at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
Around eighty students pushed off at 10am and travelled in wheelchairs down the Pacific Highway dressed in scrubs asking for donations along the way. The students raised $900 in total and enjoyed the opportunity to spend their last day of high school making a difference to the lives of other people.
Earlier this week, the NSW Deputy Police Commissioner, Bob May, warned students to consider the consequences of any muck up day pranks.
Chatswood High Year 12 Student Adviser Janet Atchison said she was so proud of her students for participating in the Wheelchair Push and continuing the schools muck up day tradition which has now been running for eight years.
Royal North Shore Hospital is always seeking the support of the local community in funding their wheelchair appeal. Wheelchairs cost around $700 each and are always in high demand right across the hospital.
Director of Fundraising, Kathryn Johnston, said that the climate for fundraising is becoming increasingly challenging and to see such a display of community spirit is always a delight.
