City to Surf 2008 - A Walk To Remember

Like thousands of other keen Sydney residents, Imogen Boas will walk the City to Surf on Sunday 10 August 2008.

But Imogen has more on her mind than a long walk on a nice day. She will be walking the City to Surf in memory of her late husband Nigel Holman, who died of liver cancer at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in November 2007.

“Nigel ran the City to Surf many years ago. When he was dying he made me promise that I would do it when he was gone and raise some money for cancer research.”

To honour her promise, Imogen will raise money for the
Bill Walsh Cancer Research Laboratories at RNSH.

“The treatment that Nigel received at RNSH enabled him to have some extra months of life. The time to go for one last sail, one last holiday and finally to say goodbye to those he loved,” Imogen says.

Imogen will be joined by her dear friend Shauna Boyd, who is herself a survivor of breast cancer.

“We have an excellent reputation for innovative cancer research,” says Professor Ross Davey, Director of the Bill Walsh Cancer Research Laboratories.

“The donations and bequests we receive from the community are vital and 100% of every donation is used to fund research towards finding a cure for this cruel disease.”

If you would like to support Imogen and the work of the Bill Walsh Cancer Labs at RNSH please contact RNSH Fundraising.
