Dalwood Assessment Centre
& Palm Avenue School

About Us

Dalwood Assessment Centre and Palm Avenue School were established in 1972 and the service has been in its present location at Dalwood Home, Seaforth, since 1992.

The Centre provides assessment and remedial support for children living in rural and regional NSW who are experiencing severe learning disorders.

The focus is on children whose main difficulty is in the area of literacy, many of whom have associated difficulties with language or behaviour. The service is available to children aged between 5 and 12 years. We are unable to take referrals for high school children.

Assessment is provided free of charge. Families living more than 200kms from Sydney are eligible for transportation and accommodation assistance under the Isolated Patients Travel Assistance Scheme.

Referrals are taken from parents, school staff and health professionals. Referrals are only accepted after local resources have been fully utilised. Due to the demand on the service we advise you to refer a child well before late primary school age.
