Can I have my physiotherapy treatment at a community health centre?

Most of our Community Health Centres do offer physiotherapy and some other outpatient allied health services. However, the exact services available do vary between community health centres. For more information you could look at the Physiotherapy information page, or the Community Health Centre pages: Berowra, Brooklyn, Galston, Hillview (Turramurra), Pennant Hills and Wisemans Ferry.

Why aren't all services available at all community health centres?

Services at each community health centre are tailored to the needs of the community it serves. This results in some variations in the services offered at different centres. You can look at the individual centre pages for more information: Berowra, Brooklyn, Galston, Hillview (at Turramurra), Pennant Hills and Wisemans Ferry.

Can I have hydrotherapy at HKHS?

There are some restrictions on eligibility for hydrotherapy and a doctor's referral is required. More details, and a medical clearance form, are available from the Aquatic Physiotherapy page.

I'm pregnant and want to have a water birth. Can I do that at HKHS?

This is one of a range of options chosen by many women who have their babies at HKHS. We have a news story about the experience of woment who labour in water. You might also like to read more about on our Maternity Unit.

I need to have a hip replacement. Can I have it at HKHS and which doctor could do it?

Hip replacements are among the type of operations performed at HKHS. You can see a list of the types of operations done at HKHS by looking at one of our pages on perioperative services. Orthopaedic surgeons are the specialist doctors who can perform hip operations. We have a web page that lists some of the orthopaedic surgeons who have the right to admit patients to HKHS. If you already have an orthopaedic specialist, you could check the alphabetical list of HKHS doctors to see if your specialist is there.

Can I stay with my child while she's in hospital?

Yes- parents are encouraged to stay with their children. Our Child and Adolescent Unit has a parents' room with sofa beds and there are also recliner chairs in the wards, if you would prefere to sleep next to your child.

If you don't want to sleep at the Hospital, we also have 24-hour visiting for parents so that you can visit your child at any time.
