Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides a range of services to the local government areas of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai. The services at Berowra Community Health Centre are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain the health of the community.

What do we do?

The health services available at Berowra Community Health Centre are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain the health of the community. Services fall into four main categories: clinical services, courses and educational groups, support services and activities for older people.


Clinical services

  • Physiotherapy: Available for assessment and treatment of disorders in human movement, injury, or disease. Referral from a doctor (General Practitioner or specialist doctor) or another physiotherapist is required. A waiting list applies. For an appointment phone 9456 3344.   • Podiatry: This service is restricted to persons holding a full pensioner card with full medical entitlement card. Specific medical conditions apply and a referral from your doctor is required.   • Speech Pathology: Speech Pathology services are available for children who have difficulties with articulation, comprehension of language, expression of language, voice, fluency and learning. No referral is required. A waiting list applies. For assessment and information phone 9477 9554, on on Wednesdays & Thursdays 12.30pm to 2.30pm.   • Child and Family Health Service: For support and information on any parenting issue for children up to 5 years of age, or for an appointment time, phone 9456 2877.

  • Paediatric Registrar: Appointments can be made through the Child and Family Health Nurse. For more information contact 9456 2877.

Courses and educational groups

  • Healthy Lifestyle Courses: The Health Promotion Unit conduct some courses at Berowra Community Health Centre during school terms. These can include: Yoga, Staying Active and Staying Strong Courses. For more information phone 8877 5300 or 9456 3344.


  • Early Childhood Support Groups: A range of group programmes and information sessions are conducted at the centre. For more information phone 9456 2877.

Support services

  • Neighbour Aid Volunteer Transport Service: Transport is provided for frail and older clients to attend medical appointments, shop locally, or to attend clinical appointments or frail aged activity groups at Berowra Community Health Centre. Conditions apply. Phone 9456 3344.


  • Playgroups: Playgroups for pre school age children and their parents are held Monday to Friday 10am to 12pm, during school terms. For more information phone 9456 3344


  • Toy Library: Open during school terms- on Mondays from 9.30am to 1pm, and on the first Monday of each month from 8pm to 9pm. For more information phone 9456 3344.

Activites for the older people

  • Games Morning: Make friendly contact through participation in games of scrabble and cards (500). Monday 10.30am to 1.15pm. Morning tea provided. A small fee applies.


  • Centre Based Meals: A centre-based group of frail and aged persons that meet each Wednesday, from 11.45am to 1.15pm, for lunch and social interaction with other people. A small fee applies.


  • Bingo Morning: The group meets for morning tea and Bingo, every Friday morning from 10.00am to 1pm. A small fee applies.

Berowra Volunteers are a group of community minded people who assist in various ways at the Berowra Community Health Centre. Areas of volunteer involvement include:

  • Volunteer driving for the frail and aged
  • Assisting with frail and older people groups
  • Assisting with other support groups
