Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides a range of services to the local government areas of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai.
The services at Hillview Community Health Centre in Turramurra are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain the health of the community.
 Who are we?
Hillview Community Health Centre, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service. We are located in the suburb of Turramurra.
What do we do?
The health services available at each centre are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain
the health of the community. Services fall into four main categories: clinical services,
courses and educational groups, support services and activities for older people.
Clinical services
- Child, Adolescent and Family Counselling: The team of Psychologists and Social Workers offer counselling services for children and families.
The team deals with emotional and/or behavioural problems relating to children and adolescents of school age. No referral required.

- Counselling: Individual and relationship counselling is offered by Relationships Australia. Fees are charged and are means tested.

- Mental Health Counselling: The Mental Health Team includes Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Community Health Nurses.
Referrals can be made by individuals, their families, doctors/ general practitioners, other professionals and agencies.
For after hours emergencies, phone the Mental Health Emergency Service (MHES) at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital on 9477 9520 or 9477 9123.
- Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service: Based at Hillview to service the Ku-ring-gai District. Referrals may be made by self,
relative, neighbour or friend, medical practitioner, doctor, hospital or any health or welfare service.

- Occupational Therapy: For the treatment of conditions such as mild developmental delay, poor co-ordination, clumsiness, perceptual
difficulty and physical handicap in children to approximately 15 years of age.
Medical referral required. Waiting list applies for assessment and treatment. For information phone Paediatric Occupational Therapy
at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital on 9477 9374.
- Paediatric Physiotherapy: For the treatment of muscular skeletal problems and delayed gross motor skills in children.
A medical referral is required, referrals can be made by contacting Paediatric Physiotherapy on 9476 4787.
- Physiotherapy: Available for assessment and treatment of disorders in human movement, injury, or disease.
Referral from a doctor or another physiotherapist is required. A waiting list applies. For an appointment phone 9024 9000.

- Podiatry: This service is restricted to persons holding a full pensioner card with full medical entitlement card. Specific medical conditions apply and a referral from your doctor is required.

- Speech Pathology: Speech Pathology services are available for children who have difficulties with articulation, comprehension of language, expression of language, voice, fluency and learning.
No referral is required. A waiting list applies. For assessment and information phone 9477 9554, on Wednesday and Thursdays 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm. More information on speech pathology is available from the Speech Pathology Department page.
Courses and educational groups
- Healthy Lifestyle Courses: The Health Promotion Unit conducts the following courses which are held at Hillview Community Health Centre in school terms.
Communication Skills, Gentle Exercises, Exercise Maintenance, Personal Skills- Assertiveness, Relaxation and Stress Management,
Relaxation for Cancer Patients, Tai Chi, Yoga, Strength Training for Arthritis. For more information phone 8877 5300
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service: Group Support and education is offered by this service in the areas of:
- Positive Parenting Program (PPP)
- Post-Natal Depression (PND)
- Aspergers Group

Support services
- SHHH - Self Help for Hard of Hearing: SHHH provides information on services for hearing impaired
people. Group support for education in all aspects of hearing loss and improving communication skills.

- Information Service: Hillview provides a range of information on health related matters. Drop in or
phone 9024 9000.
- Tax Help: A community service for people on low incomes, which offers assistance with lodging of taxation forms.

- Volunteer Transport Service: Transport is provided for frail and older clients to attend appointments or activity groups at Hillview Community Health Centre.
Conditions apply. A small fee is charged. Phone 9024 9000.
- Art Therapy Classes: Art as therapy and fun is held each Thursday from
2pm to 4pm. All welcome. Phone 9024 9000.
- Playgroups: Playgroups for pre school age children and parents are held on Wednesday and Friday mornings.

- Card Group: Make friendly contacts through participation in various card games every Thursday from 10am to 2pm.

- Monday Afternoon Tea: Informal gathering to make friendly contacts and enjoy occasional entertainment, held monthly from 2pm to 3.30pm
