The Human Resources Department, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides the ‘first point of contact’ for our staff and external clients, working in conjunction with our Area Human Resources unit which is based at Macquarie Hospital.

Who are we?

Sector Human Resources Department, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service. We are part of the Northern Sydney Health Area Human Resources.

The OH&S Consultant, Rehabilitation Co-ordinator, Staff Counsellor, Proact Co-ordinator and ISO Co-ordinator are also part of the HR structure.

What do we do?

We provide the ‘first point of contact’ for our staff and external clients at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service, working in conjunction with our Area Human Resources unit which is based at Macquarie Hospital.

In Human Resources, NSH, our vision is “partnering management and staff in providing better health” and this is supported by our mission: “To provide a Human Resources environment that is recognised as professional, ethical and equitable in partnering management and staff in the achievement of business objectives”.

The Staff /Employee Assistance Counsellor provides a free and confidential counselling service to all staff of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service. Staff are welcome to consult the counsellor about both work and non work related matters. The counsellor is also available to managers to discuss their concerns about staffing or team issues. The employee assistance counsellor also provides follow up for staff involved in traumatic or distressing incidents.

How you can access our service

Many prospective employees visit our department for their selection interviews. We are located upstairs, above the Florist and Hairdresser Service. People also benefit from our face-to-face, friendly service. We are also available to answer your enquiries via phone, fax or email.

Where you can find us

We are located upstairs above the Florist and Hairdressers shops in the undercover walkway of the hospital. The OH&S Consultant, Proact Co-ordinator and ISO Co-ordinator are also situated in the HR Department.

The Rehabilitation Co-ordinator and Staff Counsellor are situated in the Rehab. Cottage, (near Staff Cafeteria) 113 Burdett Street, next door to the General Practice Training Unit.

What are our hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm daily.

The OH&S Consultant, Proact Co-ordinator and ISO Co-ordinator are available Monday to Friday.

The Rehabilitation Co-ordinator is available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (enquiries go to HR outside these days).

The Staff Counsellor is available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (enquiries go to HR outside these days).

When you arrive

People visit the Human Resources Department for many varying reasons. It’s a great central point of contact for people in the community to drop-in and talk to a representative of Hornsby Hospital and find out more about available vacancies. We also deal with a wide scope of enquiries from our staff members. We provide a large range of interesting (well important anyway) forms, policies, procedures and award/employment information. Please register at reception and take a seat in the waiting area.
