The aim of Hornsby Meals on Wheels is to assist frail aged, disabled people and their carers to live independently within the community, by providing and delivering nutritious meals to their homes.

Who are we?

Hornsby Meals On Wheels has been in operation since 1967. The service started with about 30 people receiving meals and these meals were delivered by twelve Hornsby Hospital pink ladies who were recruited as volunteers. These days our volunteers deliver to over 200 clients and provide a chice of fresh chilled meals, bulk frozen meals, salads and culturally appropriate meals.

What do we do?

The aim of our service is to assist frail aged, disabled people and their carers to live independently within the community by providing and delivering nutritious meals to their homes.

YOU could benefit from receiving nutritious meals if you are unable to shop or prepare meals, long or short term, and are frail aged, disabled, or a carer for someone who is frail aged or disabled. Eating a nutritionally balanced diet can help to keep you in good health.

How you can access our service

You can refer yourself to receive meals from Meals on Wheels, or referrals can be made by family friends, your hospital doctor or any health or welfare service.

Your referral will be assessed by the Meals on Wheels staff and the meals will be commence as soon as possible, usually the next day.
