Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides a range of services to the local government areas of Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai. The services at Pennant Hills Community Health Centre are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain the health of the community.

Who are we?

Pennant Hills Community Health Centre, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service.

What do we do?

The health services available at each centre are targeted to the local community and designed to improve or maintain the health of the community. Services fall into four main categories: clinical services, courses and educational groups, support services and activities for older people.


Clinical services

  • Child and Family Health Service: For support and information on any parenting issue for children up to 5 years of age, or for an appointment time, phone 9483 7952 or 9483 7953.
    For support and information on any health or parenting issues of a school age child phone 9483 7955.

  • Paediatric Registrar: Appointments can be made with the Child and Family Health Nurse. For more information phone 9483 7952 or 9483 7953.


  • Mental Health Counselling: The Mental Health Team includes Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Community Health Nurses. Referrals can be made by individuals, their families, doctors / general practitioners, and other professionals and agencies. For more information or after hours emergencies, phone the Mental Health Emergency Service (MHES) at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital on 9477 9520 or 9477 9123.


  • Mental Health Residential Support Service: This service provides supported rehabilitation accommodation service to people seriously disabled by mental illness. For more information phone 9483 7970 or Fax 9483 7979.


  • Physiotherapy: Available for assessment and treatment of disorders in human movement, injury, or disease. Referrals from a doctor or another physiotherapist are required. A waiting list applies.   • Podiatry: This service is restricted to persons holding a full pensioner card with full medical entitlement card. Specific medical conditions apply and a referral from your doctor is required.   • Speech Pathology: Speech Pathology services are available for children who have difficulties with articulation, comprehension of language, expression of language, voice, fluency and learning. No referral is required. A waiting list applies. For assessment and information phone 9477 9554, on Wednesdays and Thursdays 12.30 to 2.30pm. Courses and educational groups

  • Early Childhood Support Groups: A range of group programmes and information sessions are conducted at the centre. For information phone 9483 7952 or 9483 7953.


  • Healthy Lifestyle Courses: The Health Promotion Unit conducts courses during school terms. These include : Gentle/Medium/Slow Paced Exercises, Working Women’s Workout, Yoga and Pilates. For more information phone 8877 5300.

Support services

  • Neighbour Aid Volunteer Transport: Individual transport provided for frail and older clients to medical appointments and shopping. For more information contact 9484 7777 Monday to Friday.


  • Mental Health Support Groups: These groups include-
    • Consumer Forum, who meet fortnightly
    • Rehab Activities, who meet each Tuesday from 2.00pm to 4pm
    • Grow (World Community Mental Health Movement), meet each Wednesday 11.30am to 1.30pm

  • Hearing Loss Management: Rehabilitation, education, and support for people with hearing disabilities. Every Tuesday 11am to 12.30pm


  • Stroke Recovery Self Help Support Group: This is a self help activity group, with regular clinical input by Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists. This group meets every Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm

Activites for older people

  • Frail Aged Groups: This includes-
    • Chinese Frail Aged Group meets Tuesday 9.30am to 1.30pm
    • Italian Frail Aged Group meets Wednesday 9am to 1.30pm
    • Spanish Frail Aged Group meets Friday 10am to 12.30pm


  • Centre Based Meals: This group meets every Thursday 12.30pm to 2pm For more information contact Meals on Wheels on 9477 9419 or Pennant Hills CHC on 9483 7999.
