What do we do?
The Physiotherapy Department of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service provides therapy services covering a wide number of areas. These areas include
Orthopaedics, Neurology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Surgery, Medical, Emergency, Community Health, Maternity, Domicillary, Mental Health
and Outpatient referrals.
Physiotherapy services may include prescribed exercise programs, mobility enhancement, prescription of walking aids, balance retraining,
aquatic physiotherapy, breathing exercises, sputum removal techniques, fitting of braces/splinting devices, plastering, education/advice and the use of various manual
techniques that optimise patient recovery.
How you can access our service
All people wishing to access our service need a written referral from a Medical Practitioner or Allied Health Professional (Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist,
Speech Pathologist, Podiatrist or Midwife). Once you have a referral you can contact us by phone or in person, where our receptionist will take your details and
contact you at a later date with an appointment. Please note that a waiting list exists for some Physiotherapy services.
The Physiotherapy Department will accept the above referrals for anybody residing within Hornsby or Ku-ring-gai local government areas.

The Physiotherapy Department is located on the campus of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, Palmerston Rd, Hornsby at Gate number 2.

What are our hours?
Our hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday for outpatients (patients not currently in hospital) and inpatients (patients in hospital). There is
a limited inpatient service on weekends.

Our Department is currently involved in a number of research projects investigating the effectiveness of physiotherapy treatments.
The Physiotherapy Department also houses the Orthopaedic / Fracture Clinic. Aquatic Physiotherapy (hydrotherapy) is also available.
