NORTHERN SYDNEY HEALTH VALUES
FAIRNESS
Striving for an equitable health system and being fair in all our dealings.

RESPECT
Recognising the worth of individuals through trust, courtesy, sensitivity and open communication.

EFFECTIVENESS
Pursuing quality outcomes
INTEGRITY
Achieving ends through ethical means with honesty and accountability.

LEARNING AND CREATIVITY
Seeking new knowledge and understanding and thinking and innvoation.
OUR COMMITMENTS
Our communities are informed and involved in health issues including the development, delivery and evaluation of our services
The input and understanding of our communities are essential in shaping the services we provide. We will continue to develop mechanisms to work with and involve consumers, patients, carers and the community in providing our services.

The mix of services we provide and the partnerships we develop best meet the needs of our communities
Our overall aim is to reduce premature mortality and improve quality of life, both for our local community and through our state role in many specialty services. We gather information on community needs and service outcomes to determine how best to meet these requirements. We support teaching and research in expanding knowledge.
Our systems of care are person-centred, safe and effective
Our patients, clients and the community are at the centre of what we do. We will continue to improve safety and quality and measure our performance to ensure we meet the needs of patients and clients and achieve the best possible health outcomes.

We ensure an environment that values and supports staff through workplace innovation, staff development and participation
We are aware of changing trends in workforce training and retention especially in nursing, medical and allied health professions. Many health professionals are choosing nontraditional career paths in public and private sectors. We must put in place effective recruitment and retention strategies. We will value the skills and commitment of all staff. We will look at how clinical care and workforce needs are changing and work to ensure that the health service provides a learning environment that values staff.
Our capital and service infrastructure supports care
Our buildings, facilities and other infrastructure such as information technology must complement and enhance patient care. Good working environments, technology and ease of performing non-clinical tasks ultimately help frontline health care workers provide a patient-centred, efficient and quality service.

As an organisation we contribute positively to society
As good corporate citizens we will show leadership in the way we manage our environment, accept difference in society and build ‘social capital’. We will strive not just to meet our targets in patient care, health and wellbeing of our population but to exceed expectations by embracing a holistic approach.

We are accountable to the communities we serve
We will put in place governance, management and communication structures that ensure we achieve our goals and report regularly on our progress and achievements.
